About Us

WHO ARE WE

Sweet Fellowship Learning and Development Center, a 501(c3) non-profit organization, was incorporated and established in August, 1999. The center developed based on the physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs in the community. It began in 1996, when we invited all the young people throughout the community from toddler to teens teaching them training in cooking, computers, upholstery, and tutoring in math and writing. The outcome of students was overwhelming.

THE PURPOSE

The purpose of the Sweet Fellowship Learning and Development Center is to give hope and to provide quality level education, nutrition, housing, employment, and spiritual support to the disenfranchised and the general public.

HISTORY

Sweet Fellowship Family Worship Center began with an expressed purpose to win souls to Jesus Christ. Through much prayer and dedication, the project to make vision become alive or in the form of a building that would serve as a place of worship and a place to minister to the whole person which includes the spirit, mind and body began to start early on.

The first phase of the vision was completed in August of 1975. The congregation moved from Elder B.G. Brackens and wife Pastor Luberta Brackens home in to the church building constructed by both Pastor Brackens and friends. Together they witnessed the fruits of their labor being successful,  along with their five children. The first family (Gayla, Janice, Carl, Lureda, and Veta)  worked with their parents as ushers, choir members, musicians, teachers and secretaries.

The second phase of the vision to get underway was after January 18, 1992, the late Elder Brackens went home to be with the Lord. His widow, Pastor Luberta Brackens, has continued the vision they shared initailly. In January of 1998, Pastor Luberta Brackens founded and organized the Sweet Fellowship Learning and Development Center, which she is President and Administrator. The center will soon be operating a Senior Activity Center.
